What is TOPS?

The TOPS (Taylor Opportunity Program for Students), authored by State Representative Charles R. McDonald is a program of state merit-based scholarships for Louisiana residents who attend either one of the Louisiana Public Colleges and Universities, schools that are a part of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, Louisiana approved Proprietary and Cosmetology Schools or institutions that are a part of the Louisiana Association of Independent Colleges and Universities. 

 

The four different award components of the TOPS Program are:

TOPS Program High School Curriculum GPA ACT Scholarship Duration
TOPS Honors TOPS Core 3.5 27 tuition + $800 annually 4 years
TOPS Performance TOPS Core 3.25 23 tuition + $400 annually 4 years
TOPS Opportunity TOPS Core 2.5 20 tuition 4 years
TOPS Tech TOPS Tech Jumpstart 2.5 17 or Silver on Work Keys tuition 2 years
